Before it was called New York it was part of Lenapehoking, Land of the Lenapes. Who were they and how did they live? What can we learn from their land ethic? Join naturalist Betsy McCully for a talk on the ancient habitats and Indigenous peoples of the New York City region. A cash only book sale and signing of her most recent book, At the Glacier's Edge: A Natural History of Long Island, will follow. Sponsored by the Salt Marsh Alliance, Inc.

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.

Ecology Park is only open at certain times of year when Parks staff are present in order to protect this unique landscape. Want to visit? Check out our Stewardship Projects page for restoration, planting, and educational events.
Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk
The following beach sections are open for swimming:
Beach 10 - Beach 12, Beach 15 - Beach 17, Beach 32 - Beach 36, Beach 57, Beach 59, Beach 77 - Beach 79, Beach 83 - Beach 86, Beach 93 - Beach 98, Beach 102 - Beach 108, Beach 115 - Beach 119, Beach 121 - Beach 124, and Beach 135 - Beach 144.
All other sections are closed to swimming.
