Words & Wands: Storytime on the High Line with Infirnity

Saturday, July 19, 2025

10:00 a.m.12:00 p.m.

Designed for ages 6 – 10 with an adult caregiver. All ages & abilities welcome.

Gather ‘round for a morning of storytelling and artmaking on the High Line’s Lawn. Listen to storytime led by partners from Infirnity, use your crafting skills to make a forest wand from a real High Line twig, or pull a book from our outdoor library to enjoy. Learn, relax, and create with us!

Stories will be told in English, and additional books will be available for participants to read in Mandarin and Spanish. We will have visual instructions, tactile materials, and skilled facilitators to welcome visitors with disabilities. Instruction is primarily in English. Speakers of all languages can still participate and enjoy the art making due to the nature of the program.

In the case of inclement weather, this event will be relocated to the covered passage on the High Line between 14th Street and 15th Street.

Infirnity is a resident-led nonprofit committed to removing barriers to joy by increasing access to leadership, vision, and meaningful engagement—redefining what’s possible for communities often left behind.

Accessibility:
We encourage all persons with disabilities to attend. To request additional information regarding accessibility or accommodations at a program, please contact programs@thehighline.org. Program venues are accessible via wheelchair, and ASL interpretation can be arranged two weeks in advance.
