Garden Threads — Costumes from the Earth

Tuesday, July 8, 2025

6:00 p.m.8:00 p.m.

From sunhats to pirate coats, costumes help bring characters to life. We’ll examine how colors, textures, and materials — even those found in a garden — can shape a costume. We’ll make simple costume collages and experiment with creating character looks using fabric scraps, plants, and imagination. No theater experience needed, just curiosity and a love for gardens and stories!

NYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. We are proud to be the nation’s most extensive urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
